Please take a look at a list of frequently asked questions
which will apply to each horse within the club
How Much of the horse will the club own?
The Sports Investor Racing Club will own up to 20% of each horse we
are involved in. Legal Ownership and racing registration of the Club's
horses are determined by the Sports Investor Racing Club and management,
the horse will be registered to The Sports Investor Racing Club. Your
ownership share is an agreement with The Sports Investor Racing Club
members have no legal title to the business's property.
Will I earn money if the horse wins?
Yes, purses (if any) will be distributed quarterly to the Club members.
For example, if Freddie the Investor were to win, the trainer would
receive 10% of the purse, the Jockey 10%, and the Sports investor Racing
Club members would receive the remaining 80% of the money.
Can I buy more than one share?
Yes, you can. There are usually 80 shares, some people may decide to
purchase multiple shares in one horse.
Is the Horse insured?
The Horse will be insured, and the Club will pay the insurance premiums
out of the money set aside for training expenses.
What happens if the horse is sold ?
Each owner would receive the same percentage of the sale price as they
own in the horse. If you owned 10% of a horse you would receive 10%
of the sales price, and that money would be returned in full to its
Club members. Again, we must stress that horse ownership is financially
risky and there are no guarantees or promises made or implied that the
share will profit from owning a percentage of any horse.
What about training and insurance expenses?
Included in the club membership is approximately one years worth of
training and insurance expenses. If the horse is still in training after
that date, the share holders will be required to contribute more towards
training and insurance expenses.
Do I get free admission to the racetrack when the horses run?
No. However, the Sports Investor Racing Club will allow up to 18 people
access to the paddock prior to the race, and of course all are welcome
in the win pictures Certain racetracks may restrict the number of members
allowed in the paddock prior to the races.
Sounds Good, - what's the catch?
There's no catch. You can join up on-line or over the phone, and view
the website as often as you want. You can cancel your membership and
there's no charge for leaving. The club is set up by genuine racing
enthusiasts who DO NOT make their living from horses.
Does this mean that I should invest in a similar way to the stock
market?
No. Investing in racehorses with emphasis on financial return is not
the remit of this club. Our emphasis is on sharing the thrill and excitement
of being a racehorse owner. Note that your club membership should be
purchased for leisure purposes and not as a financial investment
How do I know when my horse is due to race?
When you join we send you a training and racing plan with the expected
months of racing. You can then get up to the minute updates on race
entries on this website in the members area. You can also get updates
on the information phone line for your horse.
Where in the country will my horse race?
A horse will usually race within 200 miles of the trainer's base - which
covers a lot of the UK! Plans are fluid but we will keep you as up to
date as possible with the information line. You can always see the races
at the bookies and on Sky channels 415 or 432.
How do I get free tickets for the races?
We have a number of free tickets for each race, and these are allocated
once you have emailed us. The instructions for doing this are sent to
you when you register as a member. We usually get half price owners
tickets for all other members at each race course too.
How often should I expect my horse to win?
Winning is very special, and many horses will do well to be placed second
or third in a season.
Will we get hot tips for the races?
As part of your membership to The Sports Investor Racing Club you will
automatically be offered a full 12 months membership to the Daily
Racing Service. Normal cost of 12 months membership is £1495
and of course receive updates from us when your horse is running and
expected to run well. As a member you will get information on all club
horses regardless if you have a share in that horse or not, and of course
