About Kevin
Kevin McDonnell, The Watchman, has been involved in many different aspects
of the racing industry since the age of 18. A boardmarker in a betting
shop who then owned betting shops until the miners strike forced him
to finish, through to respected tipster, racehorse owner and journalist.
He joined the tipping ranks in 1988 as a premium rate broadcaster on Ch4 teletext before moving into racehorse ownership and race sponsorship at Stratford-on-Avon, Leicester, and Catterick.
Kevin is currently an owner with Brian Ellison and Robin Bastiman and
also a racing columnist for Sunday's biggest selling newspaper, the
News Of The World. His work as journalist brings him into daily contact
with trainers, jockeys and other owners - access most tipsters can only
dream of - and a contact book which spans the racing world.
Kevin has made regular TV and radio appearances, covered the 2007 Grand
National on Virgin Radio and BBC Radio Leeds and even acted as a 'Stranger'
on the BBC2 Identity game show in September 2007.
In January 2007, he was the focus of an edition of BBC1's 'Inside Out',
detailing life as a professional gambler alongside world-renowned poker
player Dave 'Devilfish' Uliott.
